Chrysalis of crisis: Covid-19 as a catalyst for awakening power and justice in a luxury fashion supply chain

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to understand how supply chain actors in an Italian cashmere reacted dependence and power use during the Covid-19 crisis affected their perceptions justice. Design/methodology/approach research took a case study approach exploring issues dependence, justice multi-tier luxury chain. Findings authors found two types dependence: Craftmanship-induced buyer Market-position-induced supplier dependence. also identified four key archetypes emerging from dynamics Covid-19. In repressive archetype, buying firms perceive suppliers as dependent mediated through coercive tactics, leading interactional, procedural distributive injustice reciprocal tactics against form coopetition. restrictive that are aware on contracts, with perceiving developing ways circumvent brands. relational awareness craftmanship-induced leads non-mediated collaboration, but still do not justice, there no business security or future orders. resilient own combine by giving sustainable orders, which each type positively. Originality/value This shows specific react cope one worst health crises living memory, thereby providing advice for management crises.
